A celebrated Indian takeaway in Hamilton has unveiled a tantalising new dish they claim is being introduced for the “first time in Scotland”. The House of Shah’s groundbreaking invention features a beef burger enveloped in Pakora batter and served with Pakora sauce, marking what they describe as their inaugural Pakora Burger. The beloved restaurant and takeaway on Quarry Street in the town has built its reputation on pioneering culinary innovations. Announcing the new menu item on social media with an accompanying video, they declared: “For the first time in Scotland. A House of Shah creation. “The new Pakora burger. A beef burger cooked with Pakora batter, Pakora sauce, comes with chips and Salad (optional).” The innovative creation rapidly gained traction online, with enthusiastic supporters rushing to comment, reports Glasgow Live . One customer remarked: “All that’s missing is a wee side of spicy onions.” Meanwhile, another eagerly enquired: “If I pay extra for petrol can you deliver to Johnstone .” Earlier this year, House of Shah was among the contenders at the Spice Awards celebrating Scotland’s best pan-Asian eateries. The Hamilton hotspot stood out with multiple nominations, alongside fellow Lanarkshire favourite Wee Gurkha Curry House in Blantyre — both of which took part in a live cook-off to decide the curry championship winner. House of Shah and Wee Gurkha Curry House also reached the finals in the Best Chef category, with House of Shah further shortlisted for its pakora and kebabs. The team previously claimed national recognition after winning the top prize at the British Takeaway Awards in 2018. Beyond accolades, House of Shah has earned praise for its community spirit — supporting charities, donating food to the homeless, and hosting local cookery classes. The takeaway currently holds a 3.5-star rating from 28 reviews on Tripadvisor. A review reads: “Travel from Bellshill to here as All food is top quality, nothing disappoints, chicken chasni king nan n veggie pakora is a must.” Meanwhile another happy customer said: “The Food was amazing but the quality of the food was the best part about it, will be back again.
