CBSE Board Exam: These students will get special facilities in CBSE Board Exam 2026, rules changed

CBSE is offering special accommodations to students in grades 10 and 12 for their board exams. To avail of these benefits, students will need to request their schools. Let’s explore the new rules in detail:

CBSE Board Exam: With several changes, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is scheduled to conduct the 10th and 12th board exams between February and July. This includes two Class 10 exams, along with the 12th main exam and a supplementary exam. The CBSE has announced the tentative dates. Candidates can download the datesheet by visiting the official website http://www.cbse.gov.in.

The rules related to board exams have been changed for sports and Olympiad participants. Students should be aware of this to avoid any future problems. The CBSE previously allowed students participating in sports and Olympiads to appear for special exams. However, this will no longer be possible. Special exams will not be conducted for Class 10 students.

What is the new rule?

According to the official CBSE notice, students who miss exams for subjects due to sports events and Olympiads can appear in the second session of the Class 10 board exams, which will be held in May. General students will not have this option. Appearing for the February exam will be mandatory, while the second exam will be optional.

Special exam for Class 12 students

No changes have been made to the rules for Class 12 students. If the exam clashes with a sports event or Olympiad, a special exam will be conducted for such candidates after the main exam is over. Students in both Class 10 and 12 must request their schools to avail of this special opportunity.

Schools will then submit a request to the SAI/BCCI/HBCSE to issue a certificate of participation. Schools will then submit the certificate of participation along with the student’s recommendation to the CBSE regional office. The deadline for completing these three tasks is December 15th. Regional offices will contact schools regarding this matter by September 30th. A special exam will be scheduled within 15 days of the completion of board exams.
