Sindh Cabinet Waives Death Certificate Fee Province-Wide

The Sindh cabinet has approved a province-wide waiver of the death certificate registration fee. The decision, announced on Monday, will allow citizens to obtain death certificates free of cost at municipal, union council, and town committee levels. Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah presided over the meeting at the CM House in Karachi.

According to an official statement, the Sindh government will now bear the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) service charges. The move aims to ease citizens’ financial burden and promote digital registration under the Sindh Local Government Act, 2013. It also strengthens the province’s Civil Registration and Vital Statistics (CRVS) system.

The cabinet also approved amendments to the Sindh Letters of Administration and Succession Certificates Act, 2021. The updated rules simplify inheritance procedures, protect the rights of minor and mentally disabled heirs, and make the system more transparent. CM Shah said these reforms would make the process “accessible, transparent, and people-friendly.”

In another key decision, the cabinet approved a Surrender Policy for bandits in the riverine areas of Sukkur and Larkana. The plan focuses on disarmament, rehabilitation, and reintegration through education, healthcare, and vocational support. CM Shah directed strict monitoring to ensure the policy is applied transparently.
