DETROIT – Dylan Larkin grew up in metro Detroit rooting for the Tigers. Axel Sandin-Pellikka and Michael Brandsegg-Nygard are trying to learn about this game of baseball.
They’ll join the rest of their Detroit Red Wings teammates at Comerica Park Tuesday to take in Game 3 of the Tigers’ A.L. Divisional Series against the Seattle Mariners.
The schedule worked out ideally. The Red Wings will practice in the morning in preparation for their season-opener Thursday against the Montreal Canadiens (7 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network) and then they’ll enjoy some postseason baseball at 4 p.m.
“Last year we weren’t able to go to a playoff game with our schedule and their schedule, So, it’ll be my first-ever playoff baseball game,” Larkin said. “I’m excited about it. Just hope it doesn’t rain.”
The Swedish-born Sandin-Pellikka went to his first baseball game in August when the Tigers hosted the New York Mets.
“It would be fun,” he said.
Asked if he knew much about baseball before he arrived in North America this summer, Sandin-Pellikka said, “No, not a lot. I’m still learning about everything — umpire or strike or … all that kind of stuff.”
