Authorities are looking for at least two suspects believed responsible for the Oct. 3, overnight break-in at Adobe Drugs in Sonoma, according to the Sonoma Police Department.
Around 1:30 a.m., the department received an alarm call from the drug store at 303 W Napa St. Responding police officers found a broken window, which the thieves are believed to have used to enter the business.
Investigators were able to identify the vehicle they arrived in a short time before the burglary and then used to flee the city and the county, officials said, adding that the thieves are not believed to be from Sonoma County.
In a news release issued Monday, Oct. 6, Sonoma police Chief Brandon Cutting said, “Two suspects were observed inside the store,” and stole “approximately $450 worth of items.”
They were not able, however, to take any prescription medications from the pharmacy as those items were “well-secured,” the chief said. He added that the most expensive loss attributed to the break-in is the cost of the damage caused when the thieves broke into the business.
Cutting said no other known burglaries involving these suspects were committed while they were in the area.
“Crimes like this are most often caused by visitors to Sonoma and the Sonoma Valley,” he said. “It is for this reason that Sonoma Police Department encourages the community to report suspicious behavior when it is observed. Nobody knows your neighborhood better than each of you. Videosurveillance is an amazing tool for us to solve crime after it has happened, but the eyes and ears of the community are the best tool for prevention.”
