Fox Sports Host On Eagles' Struggles: 'This Is Not On The Players'

Fox Sports host Colin Cowherd has seen the Philadelphia Eagles play this year, and he knows something is off with the team as they 21-17 to the Denver Broncos for their first loss of the season.

The Eagles offense has been an issue all year long, and it was once again against the Broncos. Despite that, they entered the fourth quarter with a 17-3 lead, but got outscored 18-0 in the final 15 minutes to lose.

Jalen Hurts is still the quarterback for the Eagles. He has another solid offensive line, while also having stars Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. They have everything that a great offense has, but something is going wrong.

Saquon Barkley #26 of the Philadelphia Eagles looks on before the game against the Los Angeles Rams at Lincoln Financial Field on September 21, 2025 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

According to Cowherd, the blame falls squarely on the shoulder of the Eagles coaches, namely head coach Nick Sirianni.

“Nick Sirianni is not a scheme guy, he is very offensive coordinator dependent,” Cowherd on his show ‘The Herd. “This is not on the players. The players were great last year. What did they do, all eat Twinkies in the offseason? Give me a break, it is a coordinator hire. This isn’t on Sirianni, but he has a stacked roster.”

The Eagles entered this game undefeated, but it hasn’t been a clean start to the season. Week 1, if CeeDee Lamb doesn’t drop a late pass, the Dallas Cowboys would have had a great chance to win that game. The following week, Travis Kelce bobbles what would have been a go ahead touchdown in the fourth, and the Eagles intercept it.

Then, the Rams game where it took not one, but two blocked field goals by Jalen Carter to hold on to that win.

Every week, there have been rumblings about players being unhappy, especially with the receivers Brown and Smith. Brown doesn’t run near the routes that he has in his career, and outside of one big half against the Rams, has looked like a shell of himself.

In the NFL, there is a saying that ‘winning cures everything’. While there is a lot of truth to that, winning can also cover up a lot of issues, which has been the case in Philadelphia.

Now, the majority of the teams in the NFL would do anything to be in the Eagles situation. This is a team that has won 20 of its last 22 games, and is the defending Super Bowl champion.

The Eagles are still one of, if not the favorite in the NFC to make it back to the Super Bowl. They don’t have much time to make those changes, as they are on the road in Week 6 on Thursday night against the New York Giants.
