Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas has mourned the death of dancer Michael Wentink.
The former professional ballroom dancer, who specialised in International Style Latin, was a Strictly judge for the South African version of the show.
Hailed as a ‘true industry legend’, the dancer’s death at the age of 46 has prompted an outpouring of tributes.
Michael’s dance partner and close friend, Ralf Lepehne, confirmed the news of his death and posted a heartfelt tribute to him on his social media.
Taking to Instagram as well, Shirley shared a collection of photos and videos expressing her sorrow for Michael’s loss.
She wrote: ‘Feeling very sad this morning, after the loss of our dear friend and true industry legend, Michael Wentink… where do I even begin.

‘Michael wasn’t just part of my life, he was like family. He wasn’t just an incredible dancer, he was a kind, caring soul who brought so much joy, warmth, and laughter into our lives.
‘His loyalty and love were unmatched, and his smile was irreplaceable. He spent many days at my house, he loved the children and would forever be checking in.
‘One of the kindest souls I’ve had the pleasure of crossing paths with.’
She went on to add: ‘I’ll never forget suggesting this aqua suit to Michael, and he just laughed saying, “Let’s give it a go, Shirls.” @alanate11 did hair and as a team we all pulled it together so very beautifully.
‘They danced magnificently and won. That’s a day I’ll carry with me forever. You touched so many lives, Michael, and I’m blessed to have been one of them.’

The 65-year-old finished off by saying: ‘With a heavy heart, I’ll miss you deeply. Rest in peace, my friend, alongside your beautiful Beata. Forever in our hearts. X’
This comes after it was recently revealed that Shirley would no longer have the sole responsibility of making a deciding vote in each week’s dance-off.
In an effort to protect Shirley from online trolls, Strictly bosses have decided to rotate the responsibility between the four judges each week.
It was said that Shirley begged for help after receiving abuse in the past over having to decide who goes home, according to The Sun.
