On Engineer’s Day, Ramesh Aravind, a popular actor, director and writer went back to his engineering days in Bengaluru. In an interview, Ramesh discussed how a khaki-clad student rose to become one of Kannada cinema’s most beloved performers. Moreover, how he discovered his passion in college, and engineering continues to impact the way he thinks.
In an interview with Bangalore Times, Ramesh Aravind shared that he went for engineering because his father wanted him to and later join his business. He said, “My brothers and I studied mechanical engineering – it saves money when you buy the same textbooks for everyone. I joined UVCE and for the first three months, I absolutely hated it. Khaki uniforms, the endless technical drawings, and that dreaded T-square we had to carry – it all felt like a mistake. I thought I’d chosen the wrong course.”
Ramesh Aravind’s Changing Point In Life
But then came a moment in his undergraduate career when a senior realised that he was interested in writing. They asked me to create a skit, and that changed everything. Suddenly, the formerly drab campus came alive for him. He added, “I realised that if you don’t love your college or your course, it’s probably because you haven’t found that one thing you truly love.”
Ramesh Aravind On His Engineering Days
But his engineering days were not a waste for him. Ramesh believes that engineering has never truly left him. “Engineering is about how things work. And life, too, is about understanding how things work-relationships, careers, money. If you really understand engineering, you can excel in any field. It teaches you efficiency of doing things the best way, at the least cost, and in the safest manner, and that is exactly what cinema needs too,” he said.
Ramesh Aravind will soon be seen in Daiji. The horror thriller has already piqued intrigue with its intriguing plot, impressive graphics, and grim tone. Ravi Kashyap is financing the production through Vibha Kashyap Productions. The team intends to release Daiji this winter; however, the official release date has yet to be announced. In addition to Daiji, Ramesh Aravind is working on Your Sincerely Ram, which is now in production.
