Amusan reacts after winning silver medal
Tobi Amusan was elated with her win and credited it all to God, who granted her victory against all odds.
“It’s all God,” she told Making of Champions. “I remember in 2021 I ran here and came 4th. The moment I heard the World Championships was going to be staged here (Tokyo), I had PTSD.
“But then I had to snap out of it and tell myself I wasn’t leaving here without the GOLD medal; but I’ll take the Silver.”
“I mean, it’s been God, the journey has been extremely rough, I’ve taken more Ls than wins, but I’m thankful I have the great support system, my coach, my family, my mentors, my loved ones and my friends. This is for everyone,” she continued.
Amusan has been on the podium at every event she has raced in except the Olympics, and she admitted that it is a difficult feat because of the quality of the division.
“It’s really tough,” she said about making another podium at a world event. “Look at the kind of lineup we have in the women’s hurdles; it’s anybody’s race.
“I kept saying to myself yesterday that it’s not of the swift, but it is of God who showeth mercy, and I kept asking for mercy all day because I work truly hard and I deserve this.
