Jamie Carragher has reiterated his criticism of Arne Slot’s Liverpool, following their third defeat in a week.
Chelsea clinched a dramatic late victory over the Reds on Saturday, defeating them 2-1 at Stamford Bridge.
This result leaves Arne Slot with significant challenges to address during the international break, as his team has now lost three games in a row.
The loss has led to the Premier League Champions losing their top spot to rival Arsenal as they enter the international break.
Carragher on Liverpool
Carragher had already identified weaknesses in their performance earlier in the season and also mentioned last week that they are playing basketball.
Speaking on his new Sky Sports show, Super Sunday Extra Time, the club legend doubled down on his assessment. “My criticism of Liverpool being almost like a basketball team, again, it has come back to haunt them,” he said.
“This thing about it being end-to-end in a game of football… Liverpool should be dominating a game like this with the changes of personnel Chelsea have got.”
Analysing Estevao’s winning goal, Carragher said: “When the ball gets switched, the left winger for Liverpool is behind the full-back! Andy Robertson is a really experienced player, and I’m not sure he had enough in this situation as well.”
“It is far too easy to play through Liverpool and get at them. It is a tough place to go, Chelsea, but with the team Chelsea had out, that’s a game Liverpool should have won, particularly after going 1-1.”
Even though Liverpool won their first seven games of the season, Carragher insists this run of defeats was predictable.
