Looks like the way people, and especially creators, use Artificial Intelligence to create content in India is going to change big time. In a recent development, a parliamentary committee in India has pitched new rules for all creators who are using AI to create content. The two major proposals are the license requirement and proper labelling of the AI-generated videos and articles. The main focus of the same is to curb the issue of fake news that is being spread using the AI tools in the market. The Standing Committee on Communications and Information Technology, headed by BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, has submitted a draft report to the Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The report submitted by them emphasises on the need of establishing rigid technological and legal rules for identifying and prosecuting individuals or companies that use AI to spread fake news. According to the panel, the fake news generated and spread by these companies or individuals poses a threat to public order and works as a source to mislead as well. With licensing for content creators in action along with a forced AI-generated label, the masses will be easily able to identify the AI-generated videos, images, and other stuff. Apart from that, the rules will also make it easy to nab the creators and organization who are held accountable for peddling fake news. Now, one thing that you should know is that these recommendations are not yet legally on the verge of implementation. This comes just as a recommendation for the government that can be acted upon to curb the issue of fake news spread by AI. What Will Change For Creators? See, as of content creation, no one is stopping you from doing that. The only change will be to label all the content generated by AI. That’s the only thing changing for the creators if these rules are implemented. On the other hand, the rule is meant to hamper the creators and businesses who spread fake news with AI-generated content and capitalize on it.
