The Philadelphia Eagles were undefeated heading into Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos, but they surprisingly fell to the Broncos at home 21-17.
The Eagles are now 4-1, and the team’s loss on Sunday wasn’t the only disappointing news for one of the team’s players.
Linebacker Jalyx Hunt was slapped with two fines from the NFL for actions during the team’s Week 4 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Each week during the season, the NFL penalizes players for actions that happened during the previous week’s games. The league updates the list of offenses on its website every Saturday, and Hunt appeared twice on this week’s report.
In the NFL’s report for Week 4, Hunt fined $6,834 for unnecessary roughness for a blindside block, and another $6,834 for unnecessary roughness for a hip-drop tackle.

Funds raised from these fines will go to to the Professional Athletes Foundation to “support legends in need and the NFL Foundation to further support the health, safety and wellness of athletes across all levels, including youth football and the communities that support the game.”
“If the discipline is upheld, the league withholds the amount of the fine from the player’s next check,” the NFL explains on their official website. “If the player’s fine is rescinded, he will receive notification of the decision, and no money will be taken from his check.”

Cornerback Cooper DeJean was hit with a $11,593 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct for taunting.
Before the Eagles’ loss on Sunday, they were ranked No. 1 on the NFL’s Week 5 power rankings tally.
Of the team, Eric Edholm perhaps foreshadowed their latest loss, stating, “They’re by no means a sure-footed No. 1, but then again, who else has won 20 of their past 21 games?”
He also discussed how the Eagles had a hairy time beating the Bucs in Week 4, noting, “You can’t overlook their grit and late-game resilience, especially in the swampy Tampa heat, even if the Bucs pretty much shut down the Eagles after halftime.”
Now, the Eagles will turn their attention to the New York Giants on the road on Thursday for “Thursday Night Football.”
