In a significant move to attract global talent and boost tourism, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has announced four new visit visa categories and has made updates in the residency system. The new regulations include four new visa categories for AI, Entertainment, Event, and Cruise Tourism. Besides that, changes have been applied to business and truck driver visas. Residency options have also been expanded for Humanitarian aid, Widows and divorcees, and Relatives and friends of the residents. Artificial Intelligence (AI) Specialist Visa With the growing importance of AI, the UAE government has introduced a visa category specifically for AI specialists. The visa allows single or multiple entries over a specified period, subject to a letter from a host or sponsoring company specializing in technology. This aims to boost the technology sector of the country and attract global talent. Entertainment Visa The entertainment visa is for foreigners coming for a temporary period for leisure and entertainment purposes only. It is a dedicated visa for individuals involved in the commercial entertainment sector. It supports the UAE’s growth in the digital and commercial entertainment sector. Event Visa The Event Visa is granted to people attending festivals, exhibitions, conferences, or any other sort of event in the UAE. This has to be sponsored by the event organizers, be it public or private, with a letter detailing the event and its duration. Cruise Tourism Visa Catering to the growing cruise tourism sector, the UAE has launched a multiple-entry visa for travellers arriving via cruise ships or boats. This supports maritime tourism in the UAE and facilitates smooth travel. It is valid for travelers whose itinerary includes stops in the UAE, given that it is sponsored by a licensed facility. Other Residency Updates Humanitarian Residence Permit: A one-year renewable permit has been announced for individuals in need of humanitarian aid, amidst war or any such situation as refugees. This aims to ensure support during vulnerable situations. Visit Visa for Friends and Relatives: This is for the friends and relatives of the residents up to the third degree. It allows residents to sponsor them based on their income. Truck Driver Visa: Facing a labour shortage in the logistics sector, the UAE introduced this visa. It can be a single or multiple entry and must be sponsored by a licensed logistics company. Residency for widows and divorcees: Widows or divorcees are now eligible for a renewable one-year residence permit in the UAE. This offers them greater security under certain defined conditions. Business Exploration Visa: This visa is designed for entrepreneurs and requires proof of financial solvency to establish a company or professional practice, allowing the holder to engage in business.
