….As UNESCO Laureate Commends Development, Congratulates Oba Abiodun Aderemi Adefehinti On ICWLS Global Award
Prof. Sir Bashiru Aremu, the World Grand President, International Chartered World Learned Society (ICWLS), USA, has conferred a prestigious honor on Oba Abiodun Aderemi Adefehinti, the Alara of Ilara-Mokin, in Ondo State, Nigeria, as the “Most Notable King of the 21st Century”.
Daily Independent learnt this from the First African UNESCO Laureate in a telephone chat, conversation with our reporter today, being Monday, September 15, 2025, as he congratulated one of the notable Ondo State monarchs upon decoration as “Most Notable And Top Distinguished King of the 21st Century”.
Speaking to our reporter, he noted that the grand ceremony on Oba Adefehintis’ ICWLS Global Golden Awards was a testament to his outstanding leadership and contributions to his community. In the words of CWLS Global President: “I must sincerely commend this development as regards this global honor, an award given to one of our notable Kings in Ondo State, Oba Adefehinti. Also, I use this medium to congratulate Oba Abiodun, who is also known as Agbekorun II. He has been on the throne since July 17, 1998”.
“During his reign, Ilara-Mokin has witnessed significant growth and development. Thanks to his visionary leadership and initiatives. One notable program being celebrated by his kingdom is the annual Mokin Day celebration, which brings together sons and daughters of the town to contribute to its development. The Alara’s commitment to preserving the town’s unique history and cultural identity has earned him widespread recognition. His emphasis on unity and cooperation among community members has fostered a sense of belonging and progress in Ilara-Mokin”.
“The community has been advocating for Oba Adefehinti to be upgraded to a Grade A monarch, citing the town’s historical significance and contributions to national development.” Prof. Sir Bashiru Aremu is a renowned scholar in computer science and information technology and is the World Grand President of the International Chartered World Learned Society (ICWLS).
Aremu noted that ICWLS, as a global organization, aims to promote academic excellence, research, and innovation. As ICWLS Boss, he has received numerous global accolades and awards in recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions to education and intellectual innovation.
He stated: ‘The ICWLS, with its headquarters in the USA, has partnerships with various institutions worldwide, including the United Nations Global Compact. The organization provides a platform for scholars and experts to share knowledge, collaborate, and influence policy on issues affecting education and development globally.”
