Powder Springs (Ga.) Hillgrove three-star EDGE Chris Carbin has decommitted from Georgia Tech, he told Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett on Sunday.
Pledged to the in-state Yellow Jackets since the Fourth of July, he has now reopened his process after new offers and interest emerged this fall. He told Facwett that Florida State, Auburn and Michigan are among the schools standing out in his recruitment.
“I want to express my sincere gratitude for everything you have done for me and my family throughout my recruitment and commitment. The entire staff made Georgia Tech feel like a home and a place where I could truly thrive,” he said on Twitter. “I have the utmost respect for the players, coaching staff, and the entire environment at Georgia Tech. A special thank you to the fans, Coach Key, Coach Pope, and Coach BG for their belief and support. At this time, I have decided to decommit from Georgia Tech. This was a very difficult decision, and I ask that you please respect it. Thank you again for this opportunity.”
The 6-foot-3, 235-pounder took an official visit to Tallahassee over the weekend, and he was also on campus for the ‘Noles season-opening win over Alabama after receiving an offer in July.
Schools turning up the heat on Carbin
“It was great, it was definitely a great atmosphere,” he told Warchant of his first visit. “The game was very lit. I’ve seen their Edges; their Edges are very good players. They made a whole lot of sacks. The defense is a great team, a great squad, and they’ve got a great offense too. The quarterback is very good. But other than that, the game was great for sure.”
The Tigers, meanwhile, extended him an offer on Friday while the Wolverines have yet to officially do so.
Carbin is the No. 742 overall prospect and No. 81 EDGE in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. He’s also the No. 83 player in Georgia.
As a junior, Carbin tallied 49 total tackles, nine TFLs, six sacks and an interception. This fall as a senior, he has racked up 24 tackles, 8 TFLs, four sacks and a forced fumble through five games.
