Over 1,500 runners take part in Kudla Run

Over 1,500 runners across different age groups took part in the second edition of ‘Kudla Run’, organised by the A.J. Hospital and Research Centre in Mangaluru on Sunday. The event was organised to create awareness about cardiac health on the occasion of World Heart Day.

The run was flagged off by K. Prashanth Marla, managing director of the centre, at 6.30 a.m. The runners started their 7K run from the centre in Kuntikana. They ran down to Infosys Centre in Kottara. Runners then ran across Chilimbi, Lady Hill, Bharath Mall, and Bejai-Kapikad Road to reach the centre by about 8 a.m. Before the start of the run, participants had a brief ‘Zumba’ session for warm-up.

All along the run, there were hydration points at regular intervals. There were doctors and physiotherapists at these points to attend to runners facing discomfort. Ambulances were also parked at several points.

Apart from the overall winners in the men’s and women’s categories, prizes were given to the oldest and youngest participants. Prizes were given to toppers in different age categories. Staff, students, and faculty of the A.J. Hospital participated in big number in the event.
