Major strides at Tri-Star’s port facility on WBD

Tri-Star Investment’s multipurpose port on the west bank of the Demerara River in Region Three has undergone massive works and transformation which will see the second phase of the over 100-acres property – with major space for berthing – completed by the end of this year and ready for use.

The Sunday Stabroek reached out to owner and Guyanese-American developer Kris Persaud, who then had the company’s Director of Business, Cristobal Schlaubitz, give a project update.

Schlaubitz informed that the three-phase project which began 2021 will see the second phase completed by the end of this year. “Construction works are still undergoing… the project is three phases and we are in phase two… and we are starting to work on (more berth space) which should be completed by the end of the year 2025. So we will have 400 metres of berths and plus about 40 acres of land stabilised and completed for customer use.”

He noted that the port facility will be multipurpose to serve general cargo liner ships and support to the oil and gas sector here. As such, when the project is completed, it will reduce much of the cargo congestion that the east side of the river currently faces.
