Sen. Mike Lee has built a record of extremism that has brought shame to Utah and harm to our democracy. These are not isolated incidents, but a pattern that should not be ignored.
In June 2025, after two Minnesota lawmakers were killed, Lee posted flippant jokes such as “Nightmare on Waltz Street,” turning tragedy into partisanship until outrage forced him to delete them (ABC News, June 19, 2025). In the aftermath of the 2020 election, he texted the Trump White House, pushing state legislatures to submit alternate electors — an attempt to override certified results (The Week, April 16, 2022). In 2019, he was one of only two senators to block funding for 9/11 first responders, delaying health care for heroes of that tragedy (Washington Post, July 17, 2019). And this year, he introduced a plan to sell off more than 3,200 square miles of federal public land — land that belongs to Utahns and future generations (AP News, Jan. 23, 2025).
These actions show a senator who is reckless with human life, dismissive of democratic principles, and careless with Utah’s natural legacy.
Utahns deserve leadership rooted in integrity and accountability. For the good of our state, Sen. Lee should resign.
