When the Cleveland Browns selected Shedeur Sanders in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, they knew they were bringing in a player who fans would want to see play. However, they also knew that they weren’t going to play him right off the bat.In fact, if things go according to plan for the Browns, Sanders likely won’t see the field at all during his rookie season.To begin the 2025 NFL season, Joe Flacco has been Cleveland’s starting quarterback. He saw his first NFL game action against the Baltimore Ravens, completing all three of his pass attempts for 20 yards and his first professional touchdown.Fans are questioning what Sanders’ future is in Cleveland and whether or not the team truly has a plan for him.A new update has been offered by an NFL insider about the Browns’ plan for Sanders. They do have a plan for him and they’re making sure that he gets reps.Ross Tucker of CBS shared a new update about what Cleveland is doing to make sure that Sanders is getting development time.”They have an airtight plan down to the minute for those guys. Down to the minute,” Tucker said. “They run an extra period after practice so Shedeur can get 8-10 reps every day.”That is good news. Even though Sanders isn’t expected to see playing time in his rookie season, the Browns are not simply sitting him and letting his first year waste away. They truly are developing him as the season moves forward.Before the regular season began, head coach Kevin Stefanski also made it clear that he is focused on developing Sanders, just like he would for any other player.”I’m committed to his development, just like all of our rookies,” Stefanski said. “We’ll continue to focus on getting our guys better. Or, that could change and he could become a starter at some point in 2025.No one knows what the future holds, but Cleveland is focused on helping Sanders improve as a player.
