Potential Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver trade target Tyreek Hill, who suffered a dislocated knee on Monday against the New York Jets, is expected to be released this offseason, according to a report by Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports.
Hill will miss the rest of the season after the injury and already had surgery. However, the Dolphins are expected to move on from the star receiver, who is 31 years old.
“The five-time first-team All Pro was in the second year of a three-year contract extension with Miami, and league sources expect the Dolphins to release Hill before the start of the next league year in March 2026,” Jones wrote.
Jones does not completely rule out a restructured contract that could keep Hill in Miami, but that does not seem likely at this point. The Steelers, who were floated as a potential destination for Hill before his injury, could be in the sweepstakes, though the injury throws a wrench in everything.
In addition to that, the NFL has commenced an investigation into domestic violence allegations made by Hill’s ex-wife Keeta Vaccaro.
Throughout the documents, Vaccaro details eight incidents where she alleges Hill got physical with her. The couple separate in April after a domestic dispute.
Hill’s attorney has denied claims that he got physical with Vaccaro.
“Make no mistake about it, we believe these allegations are nothing more than an attempt by Ms. Vacarro, her mother and/or her counsel to shake Mr. Hill down,” Hill’s attorney told TMZ.
Now, Hill is at a crossroads in his career with the injury recovery coming into effect for any team that would want to sign him to a deal next offseason if he is ultimately cut.
