Pune City Police have registered a case against Manorama Khedekar, the mother of suspended IAS trainee officer Puja Khedkar, at Chaturshrungi Police Station. She has been booked under Sections 221, 238 and 263 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The case stems from a road rage incident in Navi Mumbai in which two unidentified men allegedly abducted a truck driver and took him to Manorama’s residence in Pune. During the investigation, Navi Mumbai Police traced the vehicle involved in the kidnapping and reached the Khedkar residence. When the team attempted to enter, Manorama allegedly obstructed their entry and tried to help the accused escape.
Police officials said the missing man, identified as 22-year-old Pralhad Kumar, was rescued from the house. Kumar, a resident of Mumbai, had lodged a complaint after being allegedly confined in a room at the Khedkar home.

Family in Fresh Controversy
The incident has once again brought Puja Khedkar’s family into controversy. According to reports, the case came to light on Saturday after Kumar’s truck collided with a vehicle on the Mulund-Airoli road. Two men from the other vehicle allegedly forced him inside and transported him nearly 150 km to Pune. The Toyota Land Cruiser used in the kidnapping was later found parked at the Khedkar residence and is registered under Puja Automobile, a business linked to the family.
Mother Accused Of Obstructing Police
Police said Manorama Khedekar created a scene by refusing to open the door and misbehaving with officers, which delayed the rescue operation. She has now been directed to appear before the Rabale Police for questioning. In addition, Chaturshrungi Police Station is pursuing a separate case against her for allegedly obstructing government officials in the discharge of their duties.
Accused Still At Large
Meanwhile, the two men accused of kidnapping Kumar remain at large. A case has been registered against them under the relevant provisions of the BNS. The controversy comes amid mounting troubles for the Khedkar family, with Puja Khedkar already suspended earlier this year for alleged misuse of privileges.
