Lanarkshire martial arts club celebrate major medals haul

Students from Hamilton’s Darjay School of Taekwondo are celebrating after a huge medal haul in recent weeks at two top events. The club medalled at the world championships held in Braehead Arena, where 1700 competitors from 24 countries met in July, and at the Scottish Taekwondo Championships held in Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell at the start of September. Head instructor Daryn Duncan, who is a 4th dan black belt and previous world champion said: “I’m very proud of the students who have worked very hard this year and gave great performances to achieve 29 medals with six world champions now in the club. “Taekwondo is a great sport for both boys and girls and not only improves fitness and gives skills for self-defence, but develops self-confidence and friendship.” The club meets every Monday and Thursday evening in John Ogilvie High School.
