Charlie Kirk Could Have Become US President, Says Trump's Aide Peter Navarro

US President Donald Trump’s aide Peter Navarro has called Charlie Kirk the “greatest” political organiser in the last 50 years and said he could have become President.
“The one thing I want people to understand is how Charlie is as a historical figure. He is the man who could’ve been president, surely a Governor. He is also the greatest political organiser in the last 50 years,” Navarro told CNBC.
Recalling his first meeting with Kirk in 2016, the White House trade advisor said Charlie played a crucial role in Trump’s presidential campaign in 2024.
“But he was also an important part in taking back the House and Senate for Republicans. I want people to remember his historical significance. Nobody did that better,” he added.
Charlie Kirk, a 31-year-old ally of President Donald Trump and cofounder of the youth organisation Turning Point USA, was shot dead at Utah Valley University, where 3,000 people had gathered to watch him speak on September 10.
Tyler James Robinson, 22, of Washington, Utah, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated murder and other felony offences.
President Trump has announced that the late conservative activist will be posthumously awarded with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the US highest civilian award.
“Charlie was a giant of his generation, a champion of liberty and an inspiration to millions and millions of people,” the US president had said.
Who Is Charlie Kirk?
Charlie Kirk started Turning Point at the age of 18 with an objective to spread conservative ideals at liberal-leaning US colleges. However, his comments on gender, race and politics have often drawn fierce liberal criticism.
Kirk had 5.3 million followers on X and hosted a popular podcast and radio program, “The Charlie Kirk Show.” He had also recently appeared as a guest co-host on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends.” He was part of an ecosystem of pro-Trump conservative influencers – including Jack Posobiec, Laura Loomer, Candace Owens and others – who helped to amplify the president’s agenda. Kirk frequently attacked mainstream media and engaged in culture-war issues around race, gender and immigration, often in a provocative style.
