Hannah Einbinder accepted her first Emmy Award Sept. 15 before spinning off into an unexpected political rant.
Einbinder was called to the stage to accept the honor and appeared shocked to have won. She began her speech by noting that she did not expect to be taking home the trophy.
The “Hacks” star gracefully thanked the cast and crew before hijacking the microphone to preach her political views.
“I just wanna say, finally, go birds, f*ck ICE and free Palestine!” she said.

The beginning of her acceptance speech centered around her heartfelt appreciation for everyone who contributed to the show, but then she derailed her moment in the spotlight by slipping in a political statement.
Einbinder held her disdain for ICE and her pro-Palestine support until the end of her speech, seemingly knowing she may have faced interference if she opened with those remarks.
She explained why she chose to speak about the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas after the Emmys in the press room backstage, saying, “It’s an issue that’s very close to my heart.”
“I have friends in Gaza who are working as frontline workers, as doctors, right now in the north of Gaza to provide care for pregnant women and for school children to create schools in refugee camps,” the actress said, according to The Hollywood Reporter.(RELATED: Police Tackle Man Amid Chaotic Anti-Israel Protest At Toronto International Film Festival)
“I feel like it’s my obligation as a Jewish person to distinguish Jews from the state of Israel because our religion and our culture is such an important and longstanding institution that is really separate to this really ethnonationalist state,” she continued.
