The Bettendorf Police Department is continuing its Patch Program in October with the return of something pink on their blue uniforms.
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and every year, Bettendorf Police partners with the Pink Patch Project to help raise awareness and money for a local nonprofit doing great work in the community. The Pink Patch Project is a national public awareness campaign that creates vibrant pink versions of the patches you see on public safety employee uniforms.
“BPD’s pink patch is our pledge to stand with those affected by breast cancer,” said Bettendorf Police Chief Doug Scott. “With our patch, we honor survivors, remember those we’ve lost, and support the fight for a cure. As police officers, we serve to protect, and that includes supporting the health and well-being of our community in every way we can.”

Bettendorf Police Department is not the only one supporting this cause. Anyone can purchase a pink patch for $5 at the Bettendorf Police Department, 1609 State Street, or the Gift Shop at UnityPoint Health Trinity – Bettendorf, 4500 Utica Ridge Road.
All of the proceeds will go to the UnityPoint Health Trinity Health Foundation. The money will help provide free mammograms for those who are unable to pay for this potentially life-saving procedure.
