Free medical camps at government centres from September 17

Medical camps would be organised in Visakhapatnam as part of the “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan”, to be virtually launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on September 17. On the same day, NCD 4.0 Household Survey and screening would also be launched across the State.

Health and screening camps for Noncommunicable Diseases (NCDS) and common Cancers would be undertaken here. As part of the programme, those above 18 years of age would be screened for common cancers and lifestyle diseases.

District Medical and Health Officer P. Jagadiswara Rao said in a statement on Monday (September 15, 2025) that free medical camps for women would be held at Primary Health Centres, Community Health Centres and Urban Health Centres and Government hospitals in the district.

The objective of the programme is to increase health awareness among women, provision of medical services to women based on their need, encouraging them to consume nutritious foods. The special medical camps would provide screening services pertaining to heart diseases, diabetes, oral cancer and cervical cancer, detection of anaemia among women and girls, and sickle cell anaemia among children, and creating awareness among women and girls on the importance of personal hygiene. The DM&HO called upon the people, particularly women and girls, to avail of the services at the free medical camps.

VIMS Director Dr. K. Rambabu opened a Help Desk at the hospital for the successful conduct of the “Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivan Abhiyan”. The free medical camps would be held from September 17 to October 2. Apart from free screening and treatment, X-Ray, ultrasound scanning and other tests would be conducted free of cost, Dr. Rambabu said in a statement.
