Comedian Bill Maher denounced the political left for its response to the assassination of Turning Point USA (TPUSA) founder Charlie Kirk on an episode of “Club Random” posted Monday.
Authorities arrested 22-year-old Tyler Robinson on Friday, accusing him of murdering Kirk during an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, during which the TPUSA founder engaged in civil debate in front of a large crowd of students. Maher said on the podcast, which was apparently recorded on Wednesday, that those who were not affected by Kirk’s assassination signified a problem in the U.S. (RELATED: After Charlie Kirk Assassination ‘Every One Of Us Has To Look In The Mirror,’ Says Utah Gov Cox)
“I might drink a little more than usual today because, I mean, I don’t know when this is airing, but this is a shit day ’cause a guy who sat there, Charlie Kirk, got shot today,” Maher said. “And I can’t stop thinking about it.”
“And if you’re on the other side of the political divide and you don’t care because the wrong team guy got shot, fuck you!” he added. “You’re what’s wrong with this country.”
Historian Heather Cox Richardson claimed during a Friday “Politics Chat” YouTube livestream that she did not see any left-wing individuals online rejoicing over the assassination.
“As soon as the shooting happened, there is this outpouring insisting that he was a target of the left, insisting that people who were not MAGA were celebrating his death. I didn’t see that absolutely anywhere and I was online significantly that day,” Richardson said.
In response to Richardson, Grabien News founder Tom Elliot posted a supercut that showed their celebrations.

Moreover, SiriusXM’s Stephen A. Smith on “The Stephen A. Smith Show” Thursday excoriated people who glorified Kirk’s murder.
“I don’t care what his political beliefs were! I don’t care what he felt! I care about the fact that a man was gunned down in front of two of his children who are 5 years of age or less,” Smith said. “That he’s dead at the age of 31. That his wife is a widow. That his children are fatherless because his ideas and his beliefs differed from somebody else, apparently.”
“And then I’m going online and I’m seeing people celebrating it!” he continued. “Shame! Shame on you!”
Multiple individuals have been fired for their online comments either celebrating Kirk’s assassination or attacking him in the wake of it.
