‘Modi Says Welcome Home Bhai’: American’s 5-Year Indian Visa Tweet Goes Viral

An American man’s light-hearted post about securing a long-term Indian visa has gone viral, sparking a wave of reactions online, especially among Indian users.
Klor Anthony Louis, who is known as Tony Klor on social media, shared his excitement on X after receiving a five-year B-1 visa to India. His tweet not only celebrated the approval but also compared the approaches of two world leaders — Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former US President Donald Trump.
“It’s official! India is opening its doors to foreign blockchain & AI builders. I’ve just been granted a girthy 5-year India visa,” he wrote. Adding a playful comparison, he continued, “Trump says foreigners go kick rocks. Modi says Welcome home bhai.” He shared the post along with a picture of his visa.
The visa, issued on 23 September 2025, is valid until 22 September 2030. It clearly states that while the visa itself is long-term, each stay in India cannot exceed 180 days at a time.
Social Media Reaction
His post quickly went viral, with several netizens appreciating both the visa approval and India’s efforts to attract global talent in emerging sectors such as blockchain and artificial intelligence.

One user commented, “Finally, congrats—this is my first time seeing an Indian Visa Flex.” Another simply said, “Welcome home.”
Others highlighted the bigger picture. “India knows the future is being written in blockchain and AI. A 5-year visa like this sends an important signal—while others push talent away, India is saying ‘come build with us’. Welcome to India, Tony,” a user remarked. Another joked, “Damn, I didn’t know an Indian visa was a flex. Crazy times.”
The B-1 visa is designed for foreigners who wish to explore or establish business opportunities in India. According to the Indian Embassy’s website, it is issued to individuals aiming to set up ventures, purchase or sell industrial products, or explore commercial partnerships within the country.
Klor’s enthusiastic post comes at a time when India is actively promoting itself as a hub for technology and innovation, offering opportunities for professionals and entrepreneurs from around the world.
