8 Marvel Artifacts Strong Enough To Reshape The MCU

8 Marvel Artifacts Strong Enough To Reshape The MCU

The Marvel Universe is full of powerful magical artifacts, many of which are capable of reshaping the MCU. Some of these objects, such as the Darkhold and the Book of the Vishanti, have already made their presence known in the various Doctor Strange movies as well as Agatha All Along and Wandavision.
Yet so many more have yet to appear, some of which rival the Darkhold and the Eye of Agamotto in terms of power. They all have deep connections throughout Marvel history. Some of them have preexisting MCU connections already, making their introduction easy. Here are eight powerful magical artifacts that have the potential to greatly impact the MCU.
The Serpent Crown Has a Long Legacy of Evil in the Marvel Universe
First Appearance: Tales to Astonish #101 (as the Helmet of Power), Saga of the Sub-Mariner (Volume Two) #9 (Full first appearance) Created by: Archie Goodwin, Gene Colan, Roy Thomas and Marie Severin
The Serpent Crown, the instrument used by the Elder God Set to spread his evil on our plane of existence, has the potential to do the same for the MCU. Set, who resembles a giant snake, is one of the most evil entities in the Marvel Universe, rivaling Chthon, the author of the Darkhold
Set and the Serpent Crown also have ties to the Sub-Mariner, a character introduced to the MCU in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. He is scheduled to return in Avengers: Doomsday. While it is unlikely the Serpent Crown will be seen in Doomsday, it could appear in future movies starring Namor, ensuring Set’s influence stretches to the MCU.
As the MCU Leans More Into the Multiverse, Expect the M’Kraan Crystal to Appear
First Appearance: Uncanny X-Men #107, Created by Chris Claremont and Dave Cockrum
The MCU is currently embroiled in the “Multiverse Saga,” taking audiences throughout Marvel’s large and expansive array of parallel Earths. Films such as The Marvels and Deadpool and Wolverine have furthered the Multiverse Saga, establishing that travel between Earths is dangerous, and that is where the M’Kraan Crystal comes into play.
Long a staple of X-Men lore, the M’Kraan Crystal is the “nexus of the multiverse,” and allows users to travel it with ease. As the MCU continues to develop its multiverse, it is possible the Crystal could show up. The X-Men’s increasing presence in the MCU also sets up the M’Kraan Crystal for a potential debut.
The Eternity Mask Is as Old as the Marvel Universe
First Appearance: Marvel Comics #1 Created By: Al Anders
Eternity is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe, and the Eternity Mask, derived from a sliver of his essence, gives a huge boon to whoever wears it by making them as powerful as their opponent. The Mask appeared in Marvel Comics #1 in 1939, making it as old as the Marvel Universe.
The Eternity Mask has the potential to reshape the MCU in more ways than one. The Mask has had many wearers across the ages beyond the American West, and an anthology series tracing its progress across the MCU could not only make for compelling television, but also fill in gaps in continuity as well.
Cyttorak Is a Powerful Entity, and His Gem Could Impact the MCU
First Appearance: X-Men #12, Created By: Stan Lee, Jack Kirby and Alex Toth
The Juggernaut is one of Marvel’s strongest anti-heroes, and he derives his great power from the Crimson Gym of Cyttorak. Cyttorak, one of the most powerful magical beings in the Marvel Universe, has many spells and objects named in his honor. Doctor Strange has regularly invoked Cyttorak in his incantations.
With such a large reach across the Marvel Universe, Cyttorak feels like a shoo-in for inclusion in the MCU. The X-Men’s arrival means the Juggernaut may not be far behind. This then gives the filmmakers a great way to not only introduce the Gem of Cyttorak to the MCU, but establish two other powerful characters as well.
If Doctor Strange Returns to the MCU, He Needs the First Tarot
First Appearance: Secret Defenders #1, Created By: Roy Thomas and Andre Coates
Doctor Strange’s First Tarot, an ancient deck empowered by the gods of Egypt, is a powerful magical object that could play a key role in the character’s MCU future. As seen in Secret Defenders #1, Strange used the deck to summon various heroes to make up the titular team, and he still uses it on occasion.
Currently, Doctor Strange’s fate in the MCU is uncertain. His second film, The Multiverse of Madness, had decent box-office returns, but a third entry has yet to be announced. If it is, Strange could employ the First Tarot to bring together a team of Secret Defenders to fight evil.
The Yggdrasil Staff Can Make Someone as Strong as Thor, But There is a Catch
First Appearance: Doctor Strange (Volume 4) #383, Created By: DonnY Cates and Gabriel Hernandez Walta
The Yggdrasil Staff, made from a piece of the World Tree, gives its user the powers of a Norse God, but it also has the potential to burn them out and drive them mad. Among those who have successfully used the Staff include Doctor Strange and the Black Cat, who used it during the King in Black event to help repel Knull.
The MCU has drawn extensively from Thor’s backstory, showcasing some of its most spectacular elements. Audiences were thrilled to see Asgard for the first time, as well as other aspects of Norse mythology. The Yggdrasil Staff can take its place next to these artifacts in the MCU, and continue to raise more story possibilities for Thor.
Step Through the Siege Perilous and Be Reborn
First Appearance: Mighty World of Marvel (Volume Two) #13, Created By: Alan Moore and Alan Davis
Possessing ties to both the X-Men franchise and the whole of Marvel’s multiverse, Siege Perilous needs to make an MCU appearance. It can not only send a person anywhere in the multiverse, but it also causes its user to be reborn in a new identity. Psylocke may be the Siege’s most famous user.
If Kevin Feige and the creative minds behind the MCU do bring the Siege Perilous to the MCU, it could be used to address a major problem with the franchise: actors aging out of their roles. Hugh Jackman cannot play Wolverine forever, and the Siege gives the MCU an easy way to recast roles.
The Muramasa Blade Can Cut Anything in the Marvel Universe, Even Adamantium
First Appearance: Wolverine (Volume Three) #40, Created By: Daniel Way and Javier Saltares
The swordmaker Muramasa has crafted more than one blade in the Marvel Universe, but the one that bears his name is the most powerful. Forged from a bit of Wolverine’s soul, the Muramasa Blade is one of the most powerful swords in all comics, capable of cutting through any substance, including Adamanatium.
