Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam visited the Brahmrishi Guruji Siddheshwar Thirtha Ashram at C. Ramapuram near Tirupati on Monday. He was accompanied by his spouse Veena Ramgoolam and Andhra Pradesh Minister for Endowments Anam Ramanarayana Reddy.
The Prime Minister was received at the Ashram by Pontiff Brahmrishi Siddhguru Siddheshwar Gurudev Swami. The traditional welcome included the blowing of a conch, and the Swamiji blessed Mr. Ramgoolam with a shawl and mementoes.
Speaking on the occasion, the pontiff recalled the Prime Minister’s father Shivsagar Ramgoolam praising his humble lifestyle and lofty ideals that earned him the title ‘Father of Mauritius’. He expressed hope that Mr. Ramgoolam would remain in office for a long term to fulfill the aspirations of his people.
Mr. Ramgoolam described it as a privilege to visit the Swamiji’s Ashram in his capacity as a Hindu. He also recalled that he had become Prime Minister of Mauritius four times with the blessings of the Swamiji.
Tirupati MP M. Gurumurthy, Chandragiri MLA Pulivarthi Nani, and Joint Collector Shubham Bansal were present on the occasion.
