Ex-WWE Star Matt Riddle Attacks Podcast Host During Interview

Former WWE star Matt Riddle was involved in a controversial incident during a recent interview. His appearance on TMZ Sports ended with a physical altercation between Riddle and one of the hosts.
Riddle, who currently competes for Major League Wrestling (MLW), was a guest on the show to discuss his career. The conversation took a turn when the topic shifted to mixed martial arts.
The interview escalated after host Branson Quirke made remarks that Riddle appeared to find disrespectful. Riddle then grabbed Quirke by the collar and threw him down onto a table before walking off the set with a TMZ championship belt.
Many viewers have speculated that the incident was a work, or a staged event, designed to generate publicity. It was noted that Riddle seemed to be laughing during the altercation and placed the host on the table gently.
This media appearance comes during a turbulent time in Riddle’s post-WWE career. Just a few weeks ago, he lost the MLW World Heavyweight Championship at the promotion’s Fightland event.
He lost the title in a three-way match to Mads Krule Krügger, a bout that also included Donovan Dijak. The loss ended Riddle’s impressive 245-day reign as the champion of the promotion.
Recently, Riddle was also accused of no-showing a charity wrestling event, an allegation he has denied. He also faced a lawsuit in 2020 from Samantha Tavel, who accused him of sexual assault. Riddle claimed their relationship was consensual, and the lawsuit was eventually dropped.
