New bus terminal sought for Srikakulam

Former IRS officer Metta Ramarao on Monday urged Chief Minister N. Chandra Babu Naidu to construct a new bus terminal on the outskirts of Srikakulam since the existing bus stand in the town was being inundated even after a small rain.

In a letter to the government, he suggested that the new terminal be developed between Singpuram and Etcherla to offer passengers a hassle-free transport facility.

Mr. Ramarao also suggested that a new bus terminal should also be developed for private buses in the vicinity since the vehicles part on the streets leading to traffic congestion in Srikakulam. He said that the existing 20-acre bus stand be use commercially to raise revenue for the construction of the new bus terminal. He said that the proposed location of the new bus terminal is close to NH-16 and would ensure hassle free travel.
