Trump gives shockingly grim, 4-word take when asked about 2026 midterms

President Donald Trump gave a grim response when asked about the 2026 midterm elections.
During an interview with One America News Network, the president was asked whether he planned to stump for GOP candidates during next year’s critical races, the New York Post reported.
“I have big plans, I want to survive,” Trump said with a chuckle.
The president said, “So you look at what’s going on, it’s crazy. You know, the rhetoric that these crazy Democrats are using is very dangerous. They’ve made politics very dangerous.”
Two attempts were made on Trump’s life during the 2024 election, including when Trump was wounded by an assassin’s bullet during an outdoor rally in Pennsylvania.
Trump’s comments also come less than a month after the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Kirk was killed while holding an outdoor rally in Utah on Sept. 10.
Next year’s midterms are crucial as Republicans look to maintain control of the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate.
The ruling White House party historically loses congressional seats in midterm elections.
Trump alluded to that dynamic during his interview when he said, “the one thing that I worry about is that, if you look over many, many years, I don’t have the numbers, but the person that wins the presidency always seems to lose the midterms.”
But of his 2026 agenda, the president said, “And we’ll be, we’ll be, you’re going to be very happy with the job we’re going to do.”
The president has indicated that he will be out there stumping for his favored candidates next year.
The Post reported that Trump began raising money “the day after” his White House win over Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris last year and had raised more than $1 billion across several initiatives.
