A man preparing to marry his long-term girlfriend had a big step to take first: “adopting” her dog.Dana Rambo, 28, from southern California, is engaged to fiancé Kolton Sullivan, 28, with their wedding due to take place next summer. They’ve been together since early 2023 after meeting through friends. The couple love the outdoors, with Rambo telling Newsweek: “We love to go to the beach, ride bikes, and travel for his YouTube channel, Shralp Stories, where he shares surfing tips.”And with them on their adventures is Rambo’s dog, 11-year-old Ziggy, who Sullivan formed an instant bond with.”He is so sweet to her and calls her our ‘labradaughter,'” Rambo said. “I feel like you can tell a lot about a person by how they treat animals.”Now Sullivan’s bond with Ziggy has been secured as he adopted his fiancée’s dog in the most official way possible: adding his surname to hers at the vet’s office. In a video shared to Rambo’s TikTok account, @dana.rambo on August 10, she wrote: “No revenge bc my fiancé ‘legally adopted’ my dog by calling the vet to hyphenate her last name.”Viewed close to one million times, it shows Sullivan arriving at their home with a bouquet of flowers, a bottle of fizz, and a toy for Ziggy. As the clip goes on, he pours a glass near Ziggy, who is relaxing on her dog bed chewing on her new toy and sniffing delightedly at the flowers, which have been placed in a vase by her feet.Rambo wrote in the caption: “Introducing Ziggy Rambo-Sullivan! He calls her his labradaughter. And I’m not a single mom anymore!”She told Newsweek the hyphenation was her idea, as “I was joking [about] how I am planning to hyphenate my last name, and does that mean Ziggy will hyphenate hers too once we get married?”The vet is the only place that uses a dog’s full name, and she has been going a lot with her age and arthritis problems,” Dana, who also posts to Instagram under the username @danarambo, added.”I just thought it would be funny to change it to Ziggy Rambo-Sullivan because it sounds so proper!”TikTok users loved it, one commenter calling it “my dream date,” and another writing: “This man really said she is OUR dog.””The bar just reached a new height fellas,” another said, as one reached out to the universe: “May this love find me.”Others worried it could lead to a future “custody battle” over Ziggy should the couple ever split up—but as another commenter scolded them for trying “to steal this woman’s joy with their negative comments.”Ziggy is a Labrador retriever, which for years was the most popular dog breed in America, only recently being overtaken by the French bulldog, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC).Labs are popular family pets thanks to their active, friendly, and outgoing nature, known for their love of family, young kids and other dogs, described as famously friendly by the AKC.Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share?
