Aer Lingus has announced a major change for passengers flying from Manchester Airport to Ireland which comes into force from tomorrow, September 16. All Aer Lingus and Aer Lingus Regional flights (operated by Emerald Airlines) from Manchester will now depart from and arrive into Terminal 2. It makes Aer Lingus the latest airline to move its operations as part of the airport’s £1.3billion transformation programme, which will see Terminal 2 become the beating heart of the airport once completed later this year. As part of the transformation, Terminal 1 will close and Terminal 3 will be expanded. Passengers will benefit from a host of new restaurants and outlets opening in Terminal 2, including Lego, Joe and The Juice and a food hall. As well as flights to Dublin and Belfast City Airport (operated by Emerald Airlines), Aer Lingus also flies three transatlantic routes from Manchester Airport to New York JFK, Orlando and Barbados. Customers from Manchester and the North of England will be able to connect more seamlessly to Aer Lingus’s extensive transatlantic network via the airline’s Dublin Hub, including its new route to Cancún, Mexico which commences in January 2026. The airline also flies to a wide range of destinations in the US including Nashville, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Seattle, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Boston, and Chicago. Thanks to the US preclearance at Dublin Airport, customers save time on arrival at their destination as they’ve already cleared customs in Ireland. Susanne Carberry, Aer Lingus Chief Customer Officer, said: “Aer Lingus customers flying between Manchester and the island of Ireland will enjoy enhanced comfort and convenience at Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport, which is equipped with everything they need to start and finish their trips in the best possible way.
