Related Charges, Faces Sentencing: Live Updates

Sean “Diddy” Combs remains in federal detention as he awaits sentencing for two felony counts of transportation for prostitution.
Arrested in September 2024, the music mogul has spent roughly 13 months behind bars, a period his legal team argues should be credited as time served.
A jury convicted Combs in July, and he faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison. His attorneys are urging the court to impose a sentence that would allow for his release by the end of 2025, citing his extended pre-sentencing incarceration.
Sean “Diddy” Combs, the influential music mogul and entrepreneur, was convicted in July on two federal counts of transportation for the purposes of prostitution. The charges stemmed from allegations that Combs arranged travel for two women—his former partner, Cassie Ventura, and another victim known as “Jane”—to locations where they were coerced into sex acts. The jury found that these actions violated the Mann Act, a century-old federal law originally enacted to combat human trafficking.
Combs, 55, had pleaded not guilty and denied all allegations. His eight-week trial included testimony detailing so-called “freak-offs,” or orchestrated sexual encounters involving escorts, which prosecutors argued were part of a broader pattern of exploitation. While Combs was acquitted of three other charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, the two convictions alone carry a maximum sentence of 20 years.
The racketeering charge, which could have led to life imprisonment, was dismissed after the jury found insufficient evidence that Combs operated a coordinated criminal enterprise. His legal team argued that his employees were not complicit in the alleged acts, undermining the prosecution’s theory of organized misconduct.
Combs remains in federal custody ahead of sentencing, scheduled for Friday in Manhattan. Prosecutors are seeking a minimum of 11 years, while his defense has requested time served.
Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to appear in a Manhattan courtroom Friday morning as sentencing proceedings begin following his conviction on two counts of transportation for prostitution. The hearing, which starts at 10 a.m. ET, is expected to span the entire day and may extend into Monday.
Prosecutors are pushing for a minimum prison term of 11 years, citing the severity of the charges. Combs’s legal team, however, is advocating for leniency, requesting that the court consider time already served.
Presiding over the case is U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, who will weigh extensive arguments from both sides before issuing a final decision. According to CNN, the proceedings are expected to include detailed presentations and rebuttals as the court determines the appropriate penalty.
