The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards was a night filled with unforgettable moments, from record-breaking wins and standout red carpet looks to bold political statements and plenty of buzz worthy moments.
The 2025 Emmys delivered a mix of triumph, controversy, nostalgia and activism. The ceremony went beyond celebrating television, reflecting the times we live in and shedding light on issues of global concern. Here are the standout moments and key takeaways from television’s biggest night.
Jenna Ortega Turned Heads On the Red Carpet Look
The 2025 Emmys were nothing short of a fashion spectacle, with stars showcasing bold and striking styles. Among them was Wednesday star Jenna Ortega, who has been making it to the headlines for all the right reasons. The 22-years old actress made a striking red carpet appearance in a daring Givenchy ensemble. Her outfit featured a black skirt with a thigh-high slit but it was her nearly naked jewel-encrusted bra top that is still doing all the talkings.

The Big Wins
The Pitt won big in drama, bagging the title of Best Drama Series while Noah Wyle won Outstanding Lead Actor.
In comedy, The Studio triumphed, taking home Best Comedy Series and an acting award for Seth Rogen, setting a new record for the most wins by a comedy in a single Emmy cycle. The British series Adolescence led the limited series categories with six trophies, including Best Limited Series, while Severance shone with acting honours for Tramell Tillman and Britt Lower.
The youngest male Emmy winner ever: Owen Cooper
Adolescence not only bagged the Best Limited Series award but also delivered one of the night’s most unforgettable highlights, with 15-year-old Owen Cooper winning for his breakout role and making history as the youngest male Emmy winner ever.

Stephen Colbert Jokes About Job Hunt
In one of the evening’s lighthearted moments, The Late Show picked up the award for Outstanding Talk Series, with the crowd chanting “Stephen, Stephen” in celebration. During his acceptance speech, Colbert playfully addressed CBS’ decision to end the show, quipping, “If anyone out there is hiring, I’m available,” which had the audience in fits of laughter.

Nate Bargatze’s $100,000 Charity Challenge
Host Nate Bargatze added a fun twist to the acceptance speeches by turning them into a timed game. Winners had 45 seconds to finish their remarks, every second shorter or longer meaning $1,000 was added or deducted from a donation to the Boys & Girls Club. Although the final tally dipped into the red, Nate assured the audience the charity would still walk away with $350,000.
Stars Raise Voices for Gaza
Activism took the centre stage as many celebrities used their platform to advocate for peace. Hacks star Hannah Einbinder, donning an Artists4Ceasefire pin, ended her speech with the words “Free Palestine.” Her co-star Meg Stalter made a statement with a purse that read “CEASEFIRE!” while Spanish actor Javier Bardem, wearing a keffiyeh, told reporters he would not work with any company that “justifies or supports the genocide.”
