A total of 18 Poundland stores are set to host special sales ahead of a new wave of closures from this weekend. The retail giant is gearing up to permanently shut its doors at various locations across the nation, offering shoppers the chance to get a bargain before it’s too late . Selected shops will be cutting prices by up to 40% on a broad range of products, including clothing, groceries, and health and beauty items. This comes as Poundland has been progressively closing stores nationwide following its takeover by investment firm Gordon Brothers. In the long term, the chain plans to reduce its number of UK locations to between 650 and 700. Initially, it aims to close 68 stores, with 57 already having closed their doors by 28 September. Poundland’s retail director, Darren MacDonald, said: “We know how disappointing it is when we leave a store, but before we close our doors for a final time, we’re determined to say goodbye by offering even more amazing value to customers. These special reductions, on top of the value we offer day-in-day-out across our wider network, will help us leave these locations with pride.” He added: “And when our doors close in these locations, we’ll look forward to welcoming customers to one of the hundreds of Poundland stores we’ll continue to operate right across the UK.” Below is a complete list of all the Poundland branches holding clearance sales and their respective closure dates: In separate retail developments, Poundland has announced plans to boost the number of products available for just £1, after introducing a fresh pricing structure featuring items priced at £1, £2, and £3. Under the revised system, 60% of products will be sold for £1, with 20% each being priced at £2 and £3. The price reductions will cover confectionery, household items, and health and beauty ranges. Poundland’s managing director, Barry Williams, said: “We’ve reached a major milestone in converting the whole of our grocery aisle to a simple £1, £2 and £3 offer, reducing prices and focusing on the favourite items customers want us to bring them. But there’s much more to do, our Christmas and Halloween ranges, bought by our new in-house team, give a glimpse of what we’ll be bringing in 2026.” The new pricing strategy was initially tested in 17 Poundland stores across the Midlands, where customers enjoyed lower prices and a product range more tailored to their preferences. Just five years ago, Poundland removed the £1 price limit on a wide variety of its products. In recent years, it has begun selling items priced at £2, £5, and £10.
