BJD Protests Fertilizer Shortage in Odisha

Hundreds of party workers, leaders, and farmer representatives participated in the demonstration, accusing the government of failing to ensure timely supply despite repeated assurances.

Tensions escalated as protesters attempted to march toward Raj Bhavan to submit a memorandum to Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati. Police intervened, leading to a brief scuffle before senior BJD leaders were allowed to meet the Governor and present their demands.

BJD MLA Ganeswar Behera criticized the government for neglecting farmers’ needs, stating, “The administration is playing politics while farmers suffer. We demand immediate intervention to restore fertilizer supply.”

The party warned that if the issue remains unresolved, the agitation will intensify and spread to block levels across the state. The protest highlights growing unrest among cultivators ahead of the crucial sowing season.
