Jane Goodall carved a niche for herself as an expert on chimpanzees, and had a prolific writing career apart from appearances in documentaries.

Dr Jane Goodall was one of the most prolific and celebrated wildlife advocates and chimpanzee researchers of all time. The world renowned primatologist and chimpanzee expert, passed away, on October 1, at the age of 91. “The Jane Goodall Institute has learned this morning, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, that Dr. Jane Goodall DBE, UN Messenger of Peace and Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute has passed away due to natural causes. In 1964, she married renowned Dutch wildlife photographer Hugo van Lawick. His work capturing images in Africa helped bring Goodall’s research to a global audience. The couple shared a son, Hugo Eric Louis, affectionately known as “Grub.” However, the relationship ended in divorce a decade later.In 1975, Jane married again, this time to Derek Bryceson, who was the director of Tanzania’s national parks. Her second husband passed away from cancer in 1980, marking a new chapter in the scientist’s life.
