Wales is set to be battered by wet and windy weather today as Storm Amy hits the UK. A yellow warning for strong winds has been issued for Wales and comes into force at 3pm this afternoon. Travel disruption is expected.
The Met Office has issued a more severe amber warning for Scotland which also comes into force this evening. The warnings say the UK will be battered by “strong winds” today and tomorrow. For the biggest stories in Wales first, sign up to our daily newsletter here
It added: “Gusts of 50-60mph are likely in many areas, and may reach 60-70mph in more exposed parts.”
A yellow weather warning for wind was initially issued for five parts of Wales on Wednesday, but it was extended on Thursday morning. Ten areas of Wales are now affected by the warning.
