Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) is a common hormonal problem in women. It can cause irregular periods, weight gain, acne, hair growth in unwanted areas and difficulty in conceiving. Along with medication and lifestyle changes, yoga can help manage these symptoms naturally.
Yoga improves blood flow to the reproductive organs, balances hormones, reduces stress and supports weight management.
So, here are five yoga positions that will help manage PCOD:
1. Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)
Lie on your stomach with your palms under your shoulders. Slowly lift your chest while keeping your hips and legs on the floor. Hold for 15 to 30 seconds and breathe normally.
It stimulates the abdominal organs, improves blood flow to the ovaries and helps balance hormones.
2. Dhanurasana (Bow Pose)
Lie on your stomach and bend your knees backward, holding your ankles with your hands. Lift your chest and legs off the ground. Hold for 20 to 30 seconds.
It massages the reproductive organs, strengthens the back and reduces stress.
3. Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose)
Lie on your back, bend your knees and place your feet flat on the floor. Lift your hips up while keeping your shoulders and head on the floor. Hold for 30 to 60 seconds.
It stimulates thyroid and pituitary glands, improves ovarian function and aids in weight control.
4. Supta Baddha Konasana (Reclined Bound Angle Pose)
Lie on your back, bring the soles of your feet together, and let your knees fall to the sides. Stay relaxed for 1 to 2 minutes.
It reduces stress, relaxes pelvic muscles and supports reproductive health.
5. Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Bend)
Sit with your legs stretched out in front. Bend forward from the hips and try to touch your feet. Hold for 30 to 60 seconds.
It stimulates abdominal organs, improves digestion and helps regulate menstrual cycles.
Practicing these yoga poses regularly can help manage PCOD naturally. Combined with a healthy diet and lifestyle, yoga can make a noticeable difference in managing symptoms and improving overall well-being.
