'Modern Day X Pac' - Fans React as Andrade Makes Shock AEW Return Month After WWE Exit

Andrade’s surprise return came on the sixth anniversary episode of AEW Dynamite when he shockingly attacked Kenny Omega. The Best Bout Machine was in the midst of a promo when the lights went out and a masked figure appeared behind Omega, unveiling his mask to reveal himself.

The 35-year-old then attacked Omega before aligning with The Don Callis Family to mark his return to AEW as part of one of its biggest storylines. It’s a real surprise given his controversial exit from the company back in December 2023.

The manner of Andrade’s WWE exit last month meant there wasn’t a 90-day no-compete clause in place and he was free to make the switch for the second time in his career. He looks set for a rivalry with Omega which could make for some excellent matches between the pair.

Fans couldn’t help but compare Andrade to some legendary wrestlers who were renowned for jumping ship between promotions.

“Modern Day X Pac.”

Another stated:

“Andrade being the modern day Jeff Jarrett is so funny. They go wherever they want.”

One recalled a WCW legend:

“Kinda like Terry Taylor going back n Forth between WWF and WCW in the 90’s.”

One fan quipped:

“Dude is literally playing hot potato with his career.”

Andrade himself took to social media after attacking Omega and responded to AEW’s post, which questioned his motives. He replied, “Business!!” which suggests he has “struck a deal” with Callis that the promotion will possibly play on this if they wish to blur the line between kayfabe and reality, and infer that AEW President Tony Khan had nothing to do with it.
