Chance to shape future transport blueprint

Chance to shape future transport blueprint

Staffordshire County Council is asking for everyone to have their say through a public consultation to help support the development of the Staffordshire’s Local Transport Plan (LTP).

All transport authorities must develop and regularly renew a local transport plan to check on transport needs and challenges, and set out different ways to tackle those challenges.

Staffordshire County Council’s cabinet member for connectivity Councillor Andrew Mynors said: “Our vision for this Local Transport Plan is to create a co-ordinated and efficient transport system that supports economic growth, creates healthy and safe communities and protects the natural environment. As such it will include plans, policies and priorities relating to roads, cycleways, public rights of way and public transport across the county.

“This is plan that affects us all because it’s about all the ways we get around, how we manage and relieve congestion, and how we improve the safety of all road users.

“So whoever you are and whatever your interest in transport, we want to hear from you about your thoughts to help refine Staffordshire’s transport blueprint for the future.”

The draft transport plan was put together after extensive engagement with residents, business and partners about what they need and their views on what our ideal transport network would look like.

Now the public consultation is giving everyone who lives, works or visits Staffordshire the opportunity to have their say on the plan’s draft objectives.

The county council is asking everyone to find out more about the Local Transport Plan and fill in the survey at Let’s Talk Transport | Let’s Talk Staffordshire until October 27.

A final decision on the details of the Local Transport Plan will be taken by the county council’s cabinet in December.
