The Philadelphia Eagles were able to start off their Super Bowl defense with a Week 1 win over the NFC North rival Dallas Cowboys. While it was a close game, the Eagles were able to make enough plays to get the job done. Philadelphia ended up winning the game by a final score of 24-20.A win is a win, but there were some clear issues coming from the win. One of those issues is that the Eagles could use help in the secondary. Specifically at the cornerback positions, Philadelphia could have some struggles this season.Read more: 49ers Facing Christian McCaffrey Concern Amid Injury CrisisHow could the Eagles fix those issues? Perhaps a trade could be on the horizon. With that in mind, one NFL analyst has suggested an interesting move that could help Philadelphia fix their issue at cornerback.Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report named the Eagles as a potential suitor for Cleveland Browns cornerback Greg Newsome II. Newsome has been talked about for awhile as a potential trade candidate and could legitimately get moved before the NFL trade deadline this year.”The 25-year-old is on the fifth-year option, though, and could become a strong trade candidate if the Browns’ season quickly spirals out of control. If that happens, there’s a good chance Cleveland will chase a quarterback in the 2026 draft and could use all the extra draft capital it can get,” Knox wrote.Newsome played in 13 games last season with the Browns, racking up 27 tackles, an interception, and five defended passes. Back in 2023, he recorded 49 tackles, 0.5 sacks, two interceptions, a defensive touchdown, and 14 defended passes.Read more: Packers’ Micah Parsons Sends Clear Warning to Jayden DanielsAt just 25 years old, Newsome could be a fix long-term. If things go well should Philadelphia acquire him, the Eagles could work out a new contract with him. It’s just an idea at this point, but it’s one that would make sense. Philadelphia is all-in on winning championships while its window is open. Making a move to help fill a major void would be wise.Should Cleveland make Newsome available on the trade block, the Eagles would likely be one of the teams with interest. Depending on the price tag, which Knox suggests could be a 2026 third-round pick, Philadelphia should look into the option. For more on the Philadelphia Eagles and general NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.
