ATP Hangzhou Quarterfinal Predictions Including Daniil Medvedev vs Yibing Wu

Top seed Andrey Rublev’s elimination was the big story on day four at the ATP Hangzhou Open, but the other seeded players won their matches to set up an exciting quarterfinals lineup. As always, we at LWOT will offer predictions for every match on the slate but who players will advance to the semifinals?

ATP Hangzhou Quarterfinal Predictions

Learner Tien vs Valentin Royer

Head-to-head: first meeting

French qualifier Valentin Royer shocked Andrey Rublev in the second round to advance to his first tour-level quarterfinals. His first serve was lethal and could give him a solid chance against Learner Tien, too, if it’s firing. Tien had a much easier second-round match and won it in straight sets. He must remain focused and serve at a high percentage to keep his service games less strenuous. It should be a tight contest, but expect the American to be the man to reach the semifinals at the ATP Hangzhou Open.

Corentin Moutet vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry

Head-to-head: Etcheverry 2-0 Moutet

Fourth seed Corentin Moutet came through an exhausting second-round match against Arthur Cazaux, where he had to save two match points. The match lasted close to four hours and must have taken a lot out of Moutet, physically. He has already lost to Tomas Martin Etcheverry twice this season and will do so again if he does not have much left in the tank. The Argentinian player, who will be considerably fresher for this encounter, should have the edge here.

Prediction: Etcheverry in 3

Alexander Bublik vs Dalibor Svrcina

Head-to-head: first meeting

Alexander Bublik lost the first set against Aleksandar Vukic in the second round but it nevrr looked like he was close to losing that match. He didn’t get broken in the entire match and could have won in straight sets if his conversion rate was better. He is one of the most consistent players on the tour right now and it will take a great performance to beat him this week. Dalibor Svrcina is having a great run but it is hard to see him winning this one.

Daniil Medvedev vs Wu Yibing

Head-to-head: Medvedev 2-0 Wu

Daniil Medvedev played a fantastic match against the in-form Nishesh Basavareddy to secure his place in the Hangzhou Open quarterfinals. With Andrey Rublev out, he has a great chance to win the title this week. Wu Yibing came back from a set down to defeat Sebastian Korda in the second round. The Chinese player needed a week like this to build his confidence. However, he doesn’t have much chance against Medvedev, who won their last match easily.

Prediction: Medvedev in 2
