Anita Chidiebube Dike crowned Albinism advocacy queen 2025

Misty Glam Company has crowned Anita Chidiebube Dike as the Albinism Advocacy Queen 2025, at the grand finale of Nigeria’s first-ever Albinism Advocacy Pageant.

Themed “Beauty in Inclusivity”, the event was organised in partnership with the Lagos Chapter of the Albinism Association of Nigeria to promote inclusion, advocacy, and leadership among women with albinism.

It attracted advocates, dignitaries, and stakeholders who hailed the initiative as a groundbreaking step in representation.

After weeks of training, grooming, and advocacy coaching, Dike impressed the judges and audience with her advocacy pitch, stage performance, and overall presence.

She received a prize package including ₦500,000 cash, a digital skills scholarship from Access Tech Innovation, and beauty products worth over ₦3 million.

Other contestants were also honoured. Nwoye Blessing, the first runner-up, won the Best Talent award; Ogunyemi Olabimpe, the second runner-up, received the Best Personality award; while Kofoworola Komolafe emerged Best Dressed.

Collectively, winners went home with millions of naira in cash prizes, scholarships, and brand products.

Speaking at the finale, Misty Glam founder, Misturah Abisola Owolabi, said the pageant was created to go beyond glamour and build a platform for inclusion.

“For too long, society excluded persons with albinism from spaces where beauty, talent, and leadership are celebrated. Today, we have empowered queens who will lead advocacy campaigns, change narratives, and inspire inclusion for a new generation,” she said.

The event, co-hosted by Nollywood actor Damilola Ogunsi, drew notable personalities including National President of the Albinism Association of Nigeria, Mrs Bisi Bamishe; Lagos Chapter Chairman, Mr Tolani Ojuri; General Manager of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs, Mrs Adenike Oyetunde; Dr Uri Ngozi Chukwuka, founder of EDWIIN Nigeria; Doris Ogah, the 45th Miss Nigeria; and Dr Atinuke Smith, founder of She Grows Africa Creative Hub.

Guest speaker, Dr Olufolakemi Cole-Adeife, consultant dermatologist at LASUTH, delivered a keynote on “Defeating a Great Enemy – Skin Cancer”, sensitising participants on the health challenges associated with albinism.

The maiden edition was supported by leading brands including Lush Hair, Tasty Cubes Chicken, Three Crowns Milk, Beauty Hut, Beauty by AD, Topicals, Access Tech Innovation, Malokun Labs, with media partners Zikoko and Ikeja Record.

The Albinism Advocacy Pageant has been hailed as a milestone event, dismantling stereotypes and empowering persons with albinism to emerge as role models, leaders, and changemakers in Nigeria.
