Raiders vs. Chargers: The matchup
Carroll and Harbaugh have history that dates back to their respective tenures at USC and Stanford, now see each other again in the Wild West with both teams coming off big Week 1 wins. Harbaugh’s Chargers delivered one of the best showings of the week in a Friday night win over the Kansas City Chiefs (27-21) in Brazil. Quarterback Justin Herbert finished with a 131.7 passer rating and three touchdown passes to out-duel Patrick Mahomes in the QB matchup.
While the Raiders can’t quite match the magnitude of the Chargers win, they did go on the road in Week 1 and start a new era with a 20-13 win over the New England Patriots in Foxborough. Geno Smith was the steady hand he has always been for Carroll. Rookie first-round pick Ashton Jeanty found the end zone on a day where running room was tight, and Brock Bowers (5-103-0) and Jakobi Meyers (8-97-0) emerged as a clear 1-2 in the passing game.
The Raiders and Chargers are set for a 10 p.m. ET start on ESPN. Live streams are available from FuboTV (free trial), DirecTV (free trial) and SlingTV (low intro rate).
