STATEN ISLAND, NY — There has been a leadership change at Northwell’s Staten Island University Hospital, with the healthcare provider appointing Meagan Sills as president. She succeeds Dr. Brahim Ardolic, who led the hospital since 2017, and is now transitioning into a corporate role in Northwell’s Metro market, covering Staten Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Western Queens.
Sills has a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint John’s University and an M.B.A from Wagner College. Sills joined SIUH in 2009 as a graduate medical education coordinator. Over the years, she progressed through leadership roles, demonstrating excellent performance as administrative director of research, associate executive director of hospital operations and deputy hospital president, a position she has held since 2021.
“Staten Island University Hospital is more than a hospital – it is a cornerstone of this community,” said Dr. Ardolic. “For more than a decade, Meagan has been central to our transformation, earning the trust of our staff, physicians and patients. She is a leader whose vision, skill and commitment will carry it to even greater heights.”
Sills is known throughout the medical center for her operational expertise, community commitment and leadership in major projects. She oversaw the creation of both the Florina Cancer Center and the Gruppuso Family Women and Newborn Center, as well as the renovation of the Lois & Richard Nicotra Heart Institute. One of her key accomplishments was being the leading force behind over $100 million in infrastructure upgrades to the SIUH campuses post-Hurricane Sandy to meet FEMA standards.
In this new role, Sills will oversee daily operations and long-term strategy at both SIUH campuses and prioritize aspects such as clinical quality, patient safety, workforce development and community health initiatives.
