Celtic saw Kelechi Iheanacho ‘s goal against Braga ruled out for a factual overturn due to a “brush” of the left arm. Brendan Rodgers side trailed 1-0 at the time that the Nigerian international found the net in Glasgow’s east end before the VAR team stepped in. German referee Tobias Stieler was overruled by the off-field team and it was eventually ruled that a handball offence after the Hoops’ man robbed the visiting defender of the ball. Following the decision, TNT Sports commentator Jamie Lyall revealed that: “Officials are saying there is a clear brush of the left arm somewhere in the footage. Former Celtic goalkeeper Hart was left flabbergasted on TNT Sports by the incident from Christian Dingert on VAR was “wasting time” by even looking at the incident. He said: “VAR are checking for handball – trying to ruin everyone’s fun, but no, it comes off his head. “No, what could they possibly be waiting for here? They must be seeing a different replay to me. What are they looking for there? What are we wasting our time for there? What?” Parkhead hero Chris Sutton was quick to call out the decision – branding the decision “scandalous” on X. The Hoops would go on to concede another goal and slump to a 2-0 defeat in Glasgow’s east end – as they failed to build on the point they claimed against Red Star Belgrade on matchday one. Sutton conceded: “Regardless of possibly the worst decision of all time, did Celtic really do enough to win the game?” Follow Record Sport on Twitter , Facebook and Instagram for all of the up-to-the minute breaking news, video and audio on the SPFL, the Scotland national team and beyond.
